Meet Deepak

I’m Deepak. I’m a Water Babies teacher in North York, and it has been such a meaningful part of my journey, both professionally and personally.

When I first came to Canada as a student, I didn’t know many people. But the Water Babies family welcomed me with open arms. From day one, they treated me like one of their own and entrusted me with their babies and toddlers. That sense of belonging and community has meant so much to me.

What’s your favourite part about teaching babies and toddlers?

My favourite part about teaching is seeing my little swimmers grow from newborn to toddler, not just in the pool, but in life. Watching them take their first steps, noticing how they change and gain confidence, and seeing them become more independent brings me so much happiness. Being part of these milestones and witnessing their progress is incredibly rewarding.

What’s your most memorable moment as a Water Babies teacher?

One moment that really stands out is when one of my toddlers, who’d graduated after completing the Water Babies program, came back to the pool just to take a picture with me. It was such a simple gesture, but it reminded me of the deep connections we build during these swimming lessons. Moments like that make all the hard work worthwhile and make teaching so special.
