Meet Brittany
I first discovered Water Babies when I signed up my infant, who was around 6 months old at the time, for swimming lessons in Toronto. I was so impressed with the structure and quality of the program, and it had such a positive impact on my son’s development and my experience as a new mom… so I decided to take the steps to become a teacher myself!
What’s your favourite part of being a Water Babies teacher?
My favourite part is getting to help babies and toddlers who are less confident in the water overcome their reluctance. It takes patience, persistence, and teamwork on the part of the teacher, the parent, and the child, so it’s super rewarding for everyone when they conquer their fears, engage in new activities, and find their joy for the water. I’ve found myself with tears in my eyes on many occasions when a little one who has been reluctant to go underwater happily performs a submersion with me!
What’s your favourite skill and why?
I’ve always loved Bubba on a Raft because it’s fun and lively, and it brings back great memories of doing the Water Babies program with my son. It brings a smile to even my littlest swimmers’ faces and can be easily linked to other activities, so children of all ages can benefit from and enjoy it. Who doesn’t love making a big splash in the pool alongside Bubba the Whale?

How our lessons work

Supportive lessons
Taught in a friendly group atmosphere, one carer per child and one of our teachers in the pool in each lesson.

30 minutes long
Lessons take place each week, so it’s a wonderful way to bond with your baby away from the craziness of life.

Have fun!
Skills are taught through song, play and repetition, so there’s never a dull moment when you’re in the pool.

Tailored progress
Our teachers will tailor each lesson to your little one’s ability, so it’s only when they’re ready, we’re ready.

Amazing lessons that build confidence!
My daughter and I have been loving Water Babies! We started when she was 6 months, and now at a year old, we’re still going strong … Also the safety skills that we work on multiple times a class, every week, will soon become second nature and that gives me great peace of mind.
– Colleen and Reese (Toronto)

We love Water Babies
It’s a great way to get your little one comfortable in the water and help them learn how to swim (…) The way they use stories, songs, and the other babies in the class, makes it really easy for the parent and the baby to enjoy it.”

Child Development and Safety
“I am an Early Years Teacher and appreciate the developmentally-appropriate lessons (verbal cues, movement, visual cues, and song), adult instructions … [Water Babies] focuses on water safety. This is important to us as parents, especially as we travel as a family of three and have friends with pools.”
– Amy and Oliver (Kingston)
