Amrithan’s journey to becoming a Water Babies franchisee in Ottawa is one of growth, dedication, and purpose.
Before coming to Canada to pursue a postgraduate degree in Financial Planning and Business Analytics, Amrithan was a competitive swimmer and swimming coach in Sri Lanka. His lifelong love of water and passion for teaching shaped his career early on, and those values continue to guide him today.

Discovering Water Babies
When Amrithan discovered Water Babies over a year ago, he instantly connected with the program’s mission: introducing children to water in a gentle, structured way while building confidence and essential skills.
He began his journey as a swim teacher with Water Babies Toronto, where he helped countless little ones take their first splashes.
This experience left a lasting impression on him and inspired him to bring the opportunity to more families, shaping the next step in his Water Babies journey
“I’ve witnessed the difference this program makes for families, and I wanted to provide the same experience to families in Ottawa”
Growing Within the Water Babies Network
Amrithan stood out for his strong work ethic and high-quality teaching. When he approached Water Babies’ head office with a project proposal, his experience, understanding of the program, and personal knowledge made him a strong candidate for the opportunity. With the support and mentorship of Sarah, our COO and Shaw, our CEO, he took part in discussions and completed key tasks to determine if he was the right fit. It was his determination, passion, and dedication that ultimately led him to become a franchisee.
For Amrithan, starting a Water Babies franchise, was a way to pursue his goal of creating something impactful. He says it “provided the resources, training, and systems needed to do this successfully,” and “It’s the perfect balance of being an entrepreneur while working for a purpose.”

Bringing Water Babies to Ottawa
“I’m really looking forward to seeing families create lasting memories in the water and helping infants and toddlers gain confidence from the moment they take their first splash,” says Amrithan. “I also want to build a team that fosters a strong, trustworthy relationship within the Ottawa community through Water Babies.”
